New owner works to revive Eureka’s historic Roy’s Club
Sidoma Bowen is preparing to reopen Roy’s Club at 218 D Street in Eureka, nearly a decade after the longtime Italian restaurant and cocktail lounge closed. Bowen hopes to reopen the bar first as a music and event venue while preserving much of the historic interior. A restaurant component is planned for a later phase.
Why it matters: The project could reactivate a prominent Old Town hospitality property while adding another venue for local music, entertainment and nightlife.

Matrix marks September 4 launch in downtown Napa
Matrix was scheduled to open September 4 at 1045 Franklin Street in Napa, and a venue-linked local event listing identifies September 4 as its grand opening. Dante Javar, formerly managing partner of 1331 Cocktails, developed the lounge with co-owner John Truchard. The concept combines cocktails and local wine with nonalcoholic “functional” beverages, music and late-night food.
