Music Licensing (BMI)
Bring Music to Your Business with BMI
BMI represents the public performance rights in millions of musical works created and owned by hundreds of thousands of songwriters, composers, and music publishers. BMI negotiates music license agreements and distributes the fees it generates as royalties to its affiliated writers and publishers when their songs are performed in public. CRA members can save up to 20% off their music licensing fees.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q: Is there an easy way for me to learn about music licensing?
A: Yes, BMI has produced a video that explains the process, importance, and value of acquiring a music license. Watch this video to learn how a BMI Music Performance License can enhance your business and your customers’ experience.
Q: If my business had a license with another Performing Rights Organization (PRO), does it still need to license with BMI?
A: Yes, if that business wants to play any BMI music. A music license with another performing rights organization only allows you to perform copyrighted music represented by that organization. It will not cover the public performances of the award-winning music licensed by BMI. This is because each songwriter or composer may belong to only one performing right organization at any given time, so each PRO licenses a unique repertoire of music.
