LIVE STREAM DEMONSTRATION WILL BROADCAST TO HUNDREDS OF CALIFORNIA CULINARY STUDENTS
Chefs Frederic “Fritz” Sonnenschmidt, CMC; and Arnym P. Solomon will present to culinary students at San Juan High School at 8 to 11 a.m. Friday. The demonstrations will be broadcast live online for the 90 ProStart classrooms across California to access.
“This is a first-of-its-kind event in California, and we’re excited to partner with The CIA,” CRAEF Executive Director Alycia Harshfield said. “It’s an incredible opportunity to expose so many passionate students to chefs of this caliber in a fun and accessible format.”
For the event, Solomon will prepare Callaloo soup, a Caribbean dish, while Sonnenschmidt will demonstrate how to prepare a Hungarian Kraut Goulash.
“We’re well-aware of the outstanding ProStart program presence in California, and we’re thrilled to bring a taste of our college to share with the students there and to further motivate them in their career choice and add value to their education,” said Larry Lopez, Director of NSOs and International Programs at The CIA in Hyde Park, N.Y.
The demonstration event will lead into a ProStart Boot Camp event taking place at CIA’s Greystone campus Saturday. More than 100 ProStart students and teachers will attend the boot camp in preparation for the 2013 California ProStart Cup, slated for March 16-17 at the Pasadena Convention Center.
