CRA launches groundbreaking FoodVoice app

Surveying app is designed to ask restaurant operators about the issues that are most important to their businesses

(SACRAMENTO – May 15) – In an effort to more accurately and effectively represent the restaurant industry, the California Restaurant Association (CRA) has launched FoodVoice, a dynamic smartphone app that asks restaurateurs to sound off about the challenges they face each day.

The data and insights gathered from California operators through FoodVoice will in turn allow the CRA to better represent the industry in advocacy efforts, as well as in developing products and resources to help its members run their businesses better. "It's easy for trade associations to lose touch with their industries if they don’t obtain direct, mass industry opinion,” CRA President + CEO Jot Condie said. "And as technology and the ways people communicate rapidly evolve, we must stay ahead of the curve. This fundamentally changes the way industry consensus can be gathered, while assuring a more accurate portrayal of that consensus. FoodVoice was developed as a first-of-its-kind solution to an age-old problem for associations such as the CRA: How to thoroughly understand what members confront on a day-to-day basis to better serve them. And as policymakers write legislation affecting any number of pivotal topics that affect restaurants, such as those involving food safety, minimum wage, labor issues, health care or environmental regulations, it’s crucial for legislators to hear how laws will affect their constituents.

To participate, restaurant operators should download the app to their phone, create a new user profile and answer a few demographics questions. FoodVoice will send periodic notifications when new surveys are available. Search for FoodVoice in your app store to get started.
