The national program is in the works to encourage diners across the country to eat out June 19 at a participating restaurant, with proceeds benefiting the Governor and Mrs. Christie’s Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund.
The fund supports organizations that aid in the recovery and rebuilding efforts of New Jersey communities impacted by the storm. Hurricane Sandy affected more than 140,000 small businesses. To date, the fund has raised $34 million from more than 28,000 donors worldwide in addition to making 51 grants totaling $11 million to help families, business and communities rebuild.
To date, restaurant companies participating in National Dine Out Day include Darden Restaurants, Ra Sushi, Benihana and Firebirds. Independent and chain restaurant companies interested can sign up atnationaldineoutday.com, where a variety of marketing tools are available.
