ROLE WILL EXPAND RESTAURANT INDUSTRY’S POLITICAL PRESENCE ON LOCAL, STATE AND FEDERAL ISSUES
In his new role as vice president, Sutton will oversee all local, state and national lobbying efforts, as well as fundraising.
“Matt’s many years of experience and expertise will support the CRA in a time of mounting policy and political challenges facing the restaurant industry,” CRA President + CEO Jot Condie said.
Sutton joined the CRA in 2008 and has served as lead lobbyist for important issues including health care, workers’ compensation, workplace safety, environment and labor and employment. Sutton came to the CRA from the California Manufacturers and Technology Association where he lobbied on behalf of many of the state’s Fortune 500 companies. He also managed state government affairs for the American Electronics Association, served as legislative director for former Assemblyman John Dutra of Fremont, and as a legislative aid for Assemblyman Don Perata.
Sutton studied economics at St. Mary’s College of California, and earned a masters degree in public policy and administration from California State University, Sacramento.
