PROGRAM IDENTIFIES RESTAURANTS OFFERING SMALLER PORTION SIZES AND HEALTHIER CHILDREN’S MEALS
To be designated a Choose Health L.A. Restaurant, businesses must offer the following:
- smaller portion size options, in addition to existing menu items
- healthier children’s meals that include fruits and vegetables, healthy beverages and non-fried foods
- chilled water, free of charge.
Participating restaurants receive recognition on the Choose Health L.A. website and social media sites, a Choose Health L.A. Restaurant decal and other in-store promotional materials. Program staff are available to provide personalized program technical assistance.
"We’ve received positive responses to the smaller portion size options on our menu,” said Kevin McCarney, California Restaurant Association Chairman of the Board and owner of 11 Los Angeles-based Poquito Más restaurants. “Our customers come in more regularly knowing they have healthier options to choose from on the menu board. By partnering with Choose Health LA Restaurants, we are able to get the word out to all LA County residents that they can find healthier options here.”
