(Sacramento, Calif) – International Culinary Center will serve as the photo sponsor for the 2015 California ProStart Cup presented by the California Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (CRAEF). The state competition will be held March 22-23 at the Pasadena Convention Center.
“We’re excited to be part of an event that helps to shape the futures of so many talented students,” said Bruce McCann, President of ICC. “In the near future, ICC will have the pleasure of calling these future culinary leaders our students.” Tim Shaw, Chef-Instructor at International Culinary Center’s Campbell, CA, campus, will represent the ICC as a judge of the culinary competition.
This dynamic event brings together talented high school students from ProStart programs across the state, who collectively represent the future of California’s restaurant and foodservice industries. Over the two days’ competition, students will compete in both culinary and management events, putting their knowledge and skills to the test. “We are grateful to have International Culinary Center support our event,” said CRAEF Executive Director Alycia Harshfield. “Many of our students will go on to continue their education at ICC, and having a world-class cooking school participate in this trademark competition is a great fit.”
Winning teams from each competition will be awarded first-, second- and third-place trophies and, most notably, scholarships to aid in their pursuit of higher education. First-place winning teams from each competition also will be sponsored to compete in the 2015 National ProStart Invitational April 18-20 at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim.
About the California Restaurant Association Educational Foundation: CRAEF has awarded more than $1.5 million in scholarships and grants since its inception in 1981. CRAEF works to enhance education and training programs within the hospitality industry. ProStart is a two-year program designed to prepare high school juniors and seniors for exciting careers in foodservice.
