The local ordinance has a more aggressive pathway than the state by jumping to $13.25 by 2018 for most businesses. In February of 2019, the local ordinance calls for the Council to consider further hiking the wage to $15 by July of 2020.
The meeting is Monday, May 9 at 6:30pm at the Pasadena City Hall located at: 100 N. Garfield Ave., Pasadena, CA 91109.
Please attend the meeting and join other restaurants and local businesses in speaking during the public comment period at the beginning of the hearing and asking the council to repeal the local wage ordinance and allow the statewide pathway to $15 to play out in an effort to provide a longer phase-in of the wage increase, make enforcement simpler, and avoid the inevitable compliance confusion that will exist if both pathways to $15 stay in place.
Also on the council’s agenda for Monday evening is a proposed food packaging ban (EPS polystyrene), which the CRA opposes and has been working against. The CRA supports recycling and compostable food packaging, but we do not support individual product bans such as the one up for a vote Monday night. We are encouraging the city to expand recycling efforts. Please stay for this item as well if you are able.
