More than 300 high school students attended Experience Hospitality in Orange County on May 13 at the Anaheim Hilton for a networking lunch, tours of area businesses and an inspiring talk from keynote speaker, 100 Wines Executive Chef Miguel Valdez. The number of students in attendance marked a record for Experience Hospitality, which had previously taken place in Los Angeles and San Jose and is hosted by the California Restaurant Association Education Foundation (CRAEF), Cal Poly Pomona’s Collins College of Hospitality Management and CSU’s Hospitality Management Education Initiative (HMEI).
With the inspiring journey of Valdez in mind, the high school students were led through tours of Downtown Disney establishments like the ESPN Zone and the Disneyland Hotel while also touring other area hotels, local restaurants and the Anaheim Convention Center.
Close to 75 industry professionals attended the networking lunch at the Anaheim Hilton, where students were able to connect with experts over tasty bites from Panda Express, Habit Burger, Lawry’s Carvery and Polly’s Pies.
