On Aug. 28, the City of Encinitas enacted a host of restrictions on new establishments that serve alcohol, but stopped short of banning businesses from opening in the downtown area.
The California Restaurant Association and the Encinitas Hospitality Association has worked with business owners to develop programs to reduce public intoxication, excessive noise in the neighboring communities and drunk driving.
The city council also requested a planning staff review of the feasibility of a potential “deemed approved” ordinance that would impose regulation on existing businesses, as well as exploring how to limit “party busses” from bringing people into the downtown area.
The CRA and Encinitas Hospitality Association were asked to present a progress report ill on the programs in three months.
