RESTAURANT INDUSTRY LEADERS TO HOST PRESS CONFERENCE FRIDAY
Chapter leaders cite Faulconer’s experience as a former small business owner in the city, his integrity and leadership as the top qualities that make him the right choice for mayor.
“Kevin’s steadfast commitment to fiscal responsibility, creating jobs and rejecting burdensome taxes and regulations for small businesses cannot be ignored,” said Mike Morton, Jr., president and chief executive officer of the Brigantine Family of Restaurants and member of the CRA Board of Directors. “Kevin brings more than seven years of collaboration and leadership on the San Diego City Council, which is precisely what we need to get our city back on track.”
Faulconer has worked closely with the CRA San Diego County chapter’s Board of Directors and has taken time to get to know the restaurant industry and its many challenges as the economy continues to struggle to regain strength.
With more than 3,300 eating and drinking establishments operating in the City of San Diego, restaurants will ring up an estimated $2.9 billion in taxable retail sales in 2013 – making restaurants an indisputable driving force in the city’s employment and revenue sectors.
More than 51,000 San Diegans work in restaurants, and nearly half of all adults have worked in the restaurant industry at some point in their lives.
