At this time, the draft plan calls for an ordinance that will restrict the opening of any new quickservice restaurants in or around parks and public schools.
The draft also includes a stand-alone healthy community element with a detailed analysis of existing health conditions in and around Coachella that can serve as the basis for the creating of a stand-alone public health element for the general plan.
The California Restaurant Association (CRA) is reviewing the draft planning document and will submit formal comments to the city by Aug. 29.
