CONSIDER PROSTART STUDENTS IN QUEST TO FILL POSITIONS
“In many ways California is synonymous with summer, and we are lucky enough to see a surge in tourism when the weather heats up,” CRA President + CEO Jot Condie said.
More than 206 million trips are taken to and through California each year, according to Visit California.
Operators still looking for summer help are encouraged to consider local ProStart students – 5,300 primarily juniors and graduating seniors who have at least a year of culinary training under their belts. Ninety high schools across the state teach the ProStart curriculum, which provides instruction in 25 subject areas, ranging from basic food preparation, accounting and cost control, to sanitation and workplace safety.
“We have had tremendous success promoting seasonal employment to highly motivated and well-trained ProStart students, and want to remind operators that the pool of candidates is available,” CRA Educational Foundation Executive Director Alycia Harshfield said.
