(Los Angeles, Calif) –California Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (CRAEF) announced Thursday total funds raised at its booth fundraiser at the 2015 Western Foodservice & Hospitality Expo (WFHE). The annual fundraising event, sponsored by Habit Burger, raised more funds this year than any other in its five year history with $12,850.
The “Make it a Habit” fundraiser that supports CRAEF, rewards show attendees who donate at least $5 with vouchers for a free Charburger with cheese at any of the Irvine-based company’s nearly 80 locations in California, Arizona and Utah.
“We’re constantly innovating ways to give back to the communities we serve, and our partnership with CRAEF allows us to contribute to our industry by supporting its future leaders,” said Russ Bendel, president and CEO of the Habit Burger Grill.
Habit has donated thousands of burger vouchers to entice attendees to open their wallets, resulting in more than $43,000 raised at previous shows, and at soft opening events at new Habit locations.
“Habit Burger has been an incredible partner for CRAEF over the years, “says CRAEF Executive Director, Alycia Harshfield. “Not only does the company directly support CRAEF, but it entices the public to do the same thing through coupon donations; we are so grateful.”
The cash benefits CRAEF’s ProStart® program, the industry career exploration and workforce development program uniting industry with the classroom. CRAEF supports more than 8,500 students in 121 ProStart® programs in California high schools. Through scholarships for college and the ProStart program, CRAEF provides students with an incentive to stay in school, consider a career in the restaurant industry and have access to college.
