Tax issues can be one of the most complicated components of running a successful business, and restaurants, bars and mobile food trucks can have very different needs. To offer a hand, the State Board of Equalization has announced it will offer a free seminar in San Diego led by Vice Chair Michelle Steel.
The half-day seminar begins at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 19 at the Balboa Park Club will cover topics specific to the restaurant industry and its business and taxation needs. Topics will include: sales and use tax, employee information and tax compliance and even specifics on happy hour rules, coupons and mobile food vendor tax needs.
Agencies invited to present include the Sales and Use Tax Department, the Alcohol and Beverage Control Department and the Employment Development Department.
The BOE asks that participants register online at www.boe.ca.gov/sutax/restsched.htm, or call 888.847.9652. A flier with directions to the Balboa Park Club is available here.
