(Sacramento, Calif) – The California Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (CRAEF) announced Tuesday the induction of Rob DeLiema as the CRAEF Chairman of the Board, succeeding Past Chairman Fred Glick, who lead the board for the last two years.
“CRAEF’s mission is to provide a more robust program to upcoming industry leaders each year,” CRAEF Executive Director Alycia Harshfield said. “Rob and the BJ’s Restaurants Foundation have been instrumental in the success of CRAEF over the years and we are thrilled to have his leadership."
Rob DeLiema has been with BJ’s since 1991, beginning as a marketing and operations consultant and then becoming a full-time employee in 1996. He was director of operations for several years and also served as the general manager of a BJ’s Restaurant before becoming vice president of marketing in 1999. In 2006 he was named president of the newly formed BJ’s Restaurants Foundation and continues in that role today. He is also on the boards of other charities, works full time for the Foundation and is the founder of its award winning TASC Force (Team Action to Support Communities) program.
“The BJ’s Restaurants Foundation has been a long-time partner of CRAEF, moving along the mission of equipping tomorrow’s industry leaders,” DeLiema said. “I am honored to represent the future of the industry in California, and provide the education and means to prepare these talented students. We hope to set an industry example for supporting causes that make a difference to the future of our industry in California and far beyond.”
DeLiema has four grandchildren who keep him and his wife of 43 years busy and when not at his office or making pancakes or grilled cheese sandwiches for the 4 little ones, he runs, bikes, plays tennis and rows his single scull in the back bay of Newport Beach.
