ABC to hold casting call for new series June 30 in Los Angeles
ABC is casting a wide net for a new cooking show, asking anyone who has a passion for food – a restaurant magnate to a crafty home chef – to participate in a cooking competition, the network’s first.
The show has big-name talent attached. Celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain, star of “No Reservations,” and chef, author and host Nigella Lawson will co-host. According to press materials, the show promises to be a “unique competition” where “food is the most important aspect.”
The show will hold an open casting call from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 30 at the Art Institute of California - Los Angles, 2900 31st St. in Santa Monica. Additional casting events will be held in New York and Chicago in coming weeks . Potential contestants can pre-register at www.abccookingshow.com, or upload a biographical video if they cannot attend the casting call in person.
The show’s producers want to hear from a diverse selection of cooks. "Whether you cook fine French cuisine or prefer a great tasting burger, we want to hear from you," producers said in a statement. Candidates must bring their best dish to the casting call ready to go, with just minutes to plate and finalize the meal for judges.
The competition will be taped in September and require a four-week commitment if contestants become finalists.
