State minimum wage bill approved with promise to remove indexing

Last week, the Assembly Appropriations Committee approved AB 10 (Alejo), which proposes to raise the minimum wage to $9.25 over three years and begin indexing the wage to the consumer price index starting in 2017. The committee released the bill without any changes, despite a last-minute push by the author and advocates to move the wage to as much as $10 with indexing.
