(Sacramento, Calif) –California Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (CRAEF). announced Thursday that Centerplate is the venue host sponsor and providing judges for ProStart Cup 2015, March 22-23 at the Pasadena Convention Center.
Centerplate is the sole venue sponsor of the Pasadena Convention Center for the 2015 ProStart Cup. Centerplate and its representative companies are also providing several competition judges including Vickie Housholder, Jeff Leidy, Arnold Preciado and Gary Prell.
This dynamic event brings together talented high school students from ProStart programs across the state, who collectively represent the future of California’s restaurant and foodservice industries. Over the two day competition, students will compete in both culinary and management events, putting their knowledge and skills to the test. “We are grateful to have Centerplate represented at our event this year,” said CRAEF Executive Director Alycia Harshfield. “Centerplate is an integral part on the culinary industry”

The expo provides ProStart students an opportunity to meet school and company representatives and learn about future education, seasonal employment and career paths available to them in the industry. Representatives give students a first-hand viewpoint of educational and employment opportunities beyond high school.
Winning teams from each competition will be awarded first-, second- and third-place trophies and, most notably, scholarships to aid in their pursuit of higher education. First-place winning teams from each competition also will be sponsored by BJ’s Restaurants Foundation to compete in the 2015 National ProStart Invitational April 18-20 at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim.
About the California Restaurant Association Educational Foundation: CRAEF has awarded more than $1.5 million in scholarships and grants since its inception in 1981. CRAEF works to enhance education and training programs within the hospitality industry. ProStart is a two-year program designed to prepare high school juniors and seniors for exciting careers in foodservice.
