The California Restaurant Association Restaurant Foundation (CRAEF) is excited to announce that Specialty Restaurants Corporation (SRC) has established a $20,000 Endowed Scholarship Fund for CRAEF students. Each year, CRAEF awards dozens of scholarships to deserving high school seniors and undergraduates who dream of pursuing higher education to study the restaurant, foodservice and hospitality industries.
Specialty Restaurants Corporation (SRC) is a family-owned business founded by World War II Army Aircorp veteran David Tallichet. SRC has been an industry leader for almost 60 years with a portfolio of 21 award-winning restaurants throughout the United States. David’s son John Tallichet, President & Chairman of Specialty Restaurant Corporation said,
“My family has been involved with the restaurant industry for almost 60 years and I’m extremely proud of our amazing team of hospitality professionals. Many of our team members trained at local hospitality and culinary schools. As a board member of the California Restaurant Association Educational Foundation, I am excited to partner with CRAEF on managing the Scholarship Fund and helping students pursue their career and higher education in restaurant, foodservice and hospitality.”
The CRAEF Board of Directors carefully selects scholarship recipients during an annual application and interview process. Worthy recipients are chosen based on their scholastic achievement, enthusiasm, creativity and potential within the industry.
CRAEF Executive Director Alycia Harshfield praised SRC for their scholarship endowment, saying “we are so thankful for our partnership with Specialty Restaurants Corporation. Establishing this legacy gives ambitious young students the financial help they need to pursue careers in their desired industry.”
This year’s scholarship recipients will be announced in August.
