The California Restaurant Association (CRA) has been helping lead the opposition against SB 878 by meeting with the members of the Senate Appropriations committee, lobbying key democratic members of the full Senate, and impressing upon the Governor’s office the unintended, but damaging impacts this legislation would have on employees and employers alike.
The annual CRA Lobby Day occurred on April 19, and well over 100 restaurant owners, operators, and managers met with nearly 100 of the 120 legislative offices and this bill was the centerpiece of our collective discussions and we urged lawmakers to oppose this legislative proposal.
The fate of SB 878 will be decided by the Senate Appropriations committee on May 27th, but it is important to keep the pressure on these members up until then. We have done several grassroots action alerts to our members and the response rate has been great. We will continue to ask you to engage on this front to augment the efforts of our government affairs advocacy team.
