Economic opportunity is a major funding priority for the U.S. Bank, which distributes resources to support programs that assist in the development of work and skills life essential to self-sufficiency, with a focus on work-entry programs and specific skills training – efforts that closely align with CRAEF’s mission.
“This gift will go a long way in giving at-risk California youth the opportunity to gain vital skills and experience they’ll use for a lifetime,” CRAEF Executive Director Alycia Harshfield. “We are so grateful to have the support of U.S. Bank, and look forward to working with them for years to come.”
“The people at CRAEF do stellar work in helping prepare youth for their future,” said Pamela Maxwell, vice president and community affairs manager for U.S. Bank. “We are proud to assist them.”
CRAEF supports nearly 6,000 California students enrolled in the ProStart program, a two-year industry-driven curriculum taught in 102 high schools that gives them a jump start on the practical education necessary to succeed in higher education and careers in the foodservice industry.
CRAEF will use $10,000 in funding to support its work, which targets at-risk youth who benefit from opportunities to develop their skills and break the cycle of poverty within their families.
About the California Restaurant Association Educational Foundation: CRAEF has awarded more than $1 million in scholarships and grants since its inception in 1981. CRAEF works to enhance education and training programs within the hospitality industry.
