Rx for Reform
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act are monumental laws meant to completely overhaul the U.S. health care system, as well as employers’ responsibilities.
Many aspects of the new federal law aren’t mandatory until 2014, but California has taken initial steps toward implementation as the first state in the nation to set up a mandatory Health Benefits Exchange. The California Health Benefits Exchange will be the primary marketplace for individual health insurance and small business health insurance in California in 2014.
