CRA commends First Lady’s commitment to healthy living
Statement from the California Restaurant Association regarding the First Lady’s Healthy Living Initiative
(Los Angeles, February 1, 2012) – “The California Restaurant Association applauds the work of First Lady Michelle Obama to promote healthy living and fight obesity through the Let’s Move! campaign. This campaign is helping tackle a serious societal health problem by putting the emphasis on education and fitness which enables consumers to make healthy lifestyle choices. The restaurant industry is doing its part by offering a wide variety of healthy options and many restaurants currently provide nutritional information to give diners the tools they need to make informed decisions.” – Jot Condie, president and CEO of the California Restaurant Association.
The restaurant industry has been promoting a variety of efforts to encourage healthy choice among consumers. Last year, the National Restaurant Association launched its Kids Live Well program in partnership with Healthy Dining to help parents and children select healthful menu options when dining out. Additionally, the industry is spreading awareness about menu labeling information, adjusting ingredients and providing new healthy choice menu offerings.
