Oppose polystyrene foam ban
On Monday, the San Leandro City Council’s Rules and Communications Committee will consider a draft ordinance to ban the use of polystyrene foam foodservice ware and mandate that food establishments only use compostable or recyclable products. This ordinance directly targets the restaurant and foodservice industry, mandating products that are often inferior.
The restaurant industry is being used as a guinea pig as regulators try to address environmental challenges. This ordinance is unfair and not the right approach. We must fight this restrictive and onerous ban. Please voice your opposition at the meeting, 4:30 p.m., July 25, at San Leandro City Hall, 835 East 14th St., San Leandro (Sister Cities Gallery).
