Help needed to oppose Santa Clara toy ban
Final vote scheduled for May 11
The Santa Clara Board of Supervisors passed an ordinance authored by Supervisor Ken Yeager by a 3-2 vote that bans most toys and other incentives for children in restaurants in the unincorporated area of the county on April 27. The California Restaurant Association strongly opposed the ordinance and so did most county residents.
The board will take one more vote to finalize the adoption of this ordinance on May 11. We need help to send a strong message to Supervisor Dave Cortese, who we hope will change his aye vote to no.
Cortese’s constituents in District 3 must call and write to him to ask him to change his vote.
A California Restaurant Association-commissioned poll of Santa Clara County residents clearly shows that the public does not support the ordinance, with 87 percent of county residents against the supervisors intervening on this issue.
You can help the effort by following two easy steps: First, click here to find out your supervisor. Next, contact the supervisors to express your opinion.
Contact the supervisors who voted for the ordinance to let them know you are disappointed with their vote and failure to listen to their constituents:
