CRAEF, Habit Burger Grill team for WFHE fundraiser
(SACRAMENTO, Aug. 22, 2011) – The California Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (CRAEF) has teamed with the Habit Burger Grill to raise money and awareness about the foundation at the Western Foodservice and Hospitality Expo Aug. 28-30 at the San Diego Convention Center.
The foundation’s campaign, “Make it a Habit to Support CRAEF,” will include rewarding attendees who donate at least $5 with vouchers for a free Charburger with cheese at any of the Irvine-based company’s 42 locations across California. A similar campaign at last year’s show in Los Angeles generated more than $10,000 for the foundation.
“The generosity of Habit and the attendees at the Western Foodservice and Hospitality Expo will change the lives of California youth who are inspired by the restaurant industry,” CRAEF Executive Director Alycia Harshfield said.
Habit Burger Grill has donated thousands of burger vouchers to entice attendees to open their wallets. The cash will benefit CRAEF’s ProStart program, which provides adopted schools with expanded curriculum, field trips, paid internships, guest speakers, job shadowing, competition costs, ServSafe certification, equipment, supplies and food. There are 5,300 students enrolled in ProStart classes in 80 high schools across California, including nine in San Diego County.
“CRAEF’s work is to nurture the next generation of foodservice industry leaders, and we are pleased to help further that mission,” said Russ Bendel, president and CEO of the Habit Burger Grill.
