CRA Recognizes the Industry’s Lead on the Latest En Vogue Topic for Legislators

Sacramento, Calif. – California Restaurant Association (CRA) President and CEO Jot Condie made the following statement after learning that yet another nutrition-related bill was introduced in the Legislature:

“The restaurant industry led the charge on phasing out trans fat because of consumer demand. More and more restaurants each day announce they are discontinuing its use. Others have never used it.

“For years, the industry has been providing nutritional information because consumers wanted it. Even though 81 percent of meals are prepared in the home, restaurants are already making these changes. Evidently, no good deed goes unpunished.

“Putting these concepts into law will only open the door for liability and lawsuits, and will only benefit those in the legal profession.”
