CRA Defends Assembly Member Garcia After Sacramento Bee’s “Busting”

Sacramento, Calif. – The California Restaurant Association (CRA) today defended Assembly member Bonnie Garcia (R-Cathedral City) after the Sacramento Bee newspaper’s “Buzz column” reported that the Assembly member was spotted ordering food allegedly containing trans fat.

“The restaurant industry prides itself with providing consumers exactly what they want,” said Jot Condie, President and CEO of the CRA. “Assembly member Garcia has just as much right as anyone to choose what she orders, regardless of her introduction of a bill banning trans fats. The last time we checked, eating French fries, nachos and pizza was still allowable, at least for now. She shouldn’t have to defend her personal – legal – culinary choice.”
