Reminder about the S.F. menu labeling ordinance update
On July 29, 2008 the San Francisco Board of Supervisors approved Supervisor Ammiano's proposed amendments to the menu labeling ordinance.
In accordance with the approved amendments and the court-approved stipulation reached between the San Francisco City attorney and counsel for the California Restaurant Association (CRA), the deadline/requirement to post nutrition information on menus, menu boards, food tags and posters, booklets or brochures is extended from September 20, 2008 to October 14, 2008. The deadline to submit nutrition information in an electronic format to the San Francisco Department of Public Health (DPH) is still listed on their Web site as August 1, 2008, however, the DPH will not deem restaurants late until October 14, 2008. Once the DPH compiles the information they plan to post on their Web site.
