Legislative Issues
In the interest of protecting and bettering California’s food service industry, the CRA’s Government Affairs department is continuously working on a myriad of issues, including the following state legislative issues:
- Health Care Reform
- The CRA continues to seek workable solutions for covering California’s 6.4 million uninsured residents but remains strongly opposed to proposals that place the burden of providing coverage on employers. Read More
- Nutritional Issues/Menu Labeling + Trans Fat Ban
- California is faced with proposals purporting to address Californians’ health and nutrition problems such as obesity and heart disease. Unfortunately, some of the proposals inappropriately place the responsibility, liability and duty for these problems and their solutions on restaurants. Read More
- ADA/California Disability Law Reform
California’s Disability Laws pertaining to access must be reformed in order to stop the onslaught of meritless ADA lawsuits that have plagued restaurateurs and other businesses.

- Food Packaging Ban
- AB 904 (Feuer-D) creates an unworkable and impractical mandate on restaurants by precluding most of the food packaging used today, and would require the use of inferior, more expensive products that will threaten food safety and punish restaurants. Read More
